Stories from the Field
Here are some actual stories shared by some of our e-mail volunteers.
"A young lady in England had many struggles. She contacted us saying she prayed to
receive Christ and wanted to be baptized. Although she still has many struggles, she has now been baptized (at a church referred to her by a local Campus Crusade staff member) and has been participating in Alpha."
"I've been corresponding with a young deaf woman in Ethiopia. She grew up as an orphan and has been a believer since her teens. Tigrit is now feeling cut off from any church fellowship because of her inability to understand any of the teaching or to interact as a hearing person would. She felt overwelmed and depressed because of the upcoming termination of her job, as well as heartbroken over a lost love (both she felt were due to her deafness). As we have corresponded and developed a friendship, she now sees God's hand moving in her circumstances and seems to be experiencing much more peace and hope."
"There were many who left comments of absolute praise for their decisions. But some of the stories that were most impressive were not ones of victories, but great questions on 'what now', and asking how to begin to live the Christian life as God would have. It speaks of a true desire to begin and embrace the faith, not just an emotional fix."
"I shared with a Catholic Seminarian studying to be a priest in Kenya. He asked, ‘Can you help me understand how to have a personal relationship with Jesus? I've asked my professors and they can not tell me.’ I shared with him over the course of two weeks having him use the online resources of the 4 Laws and the Holy Spirit Booklet. He wrote back and said, ‘Thank you so much for helping understand how to have a relationship with Jesus and how to live a life empowered by the Holy Spirit’."
"We are writing to a man in Turkey who says he is considering converting to Christianity, but does not know any Christians or how to find a Bible. We also enjoy praying for specific requests, praying for those who accept Christ, and sharing our experiences with those who are going through similar struggles."
"I'm encouraged to see that people find Jesus. I also enjoy helping people to grow in their faith and trying to help them to find a church."
"I was able to encourage another believer in the Lord on how to share her faith and as a result she started a backyard Bible club for kids in her neighborhood and it is now a growing ministry. Together we pray for the kids and their families."
"About four months ago a middle-aged woman from the Netherlands came into my box searching more for God. She was a Christian but had been out of touch of a church and such--basically was kind of dry. I talked to her some and encouraged her to go to church, not really thinking she would do anything. But through a period of four months she has started consistently going to church, even serves with other ladies cleaning up the church during the week, and is growing in the Lord. We still correspond, and I find her heart so sweet. It is encouraging to know that we really do have an impact on people's lives!"
